2025-26 Impact Report

As we reflect on an extraordinary 2025-26 academic year for Virginia Athletics, I want to begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering commitment to our more than 750 student-athletes and 27 sport programs.

While football serves as the financial engine of Virginia Athletics, generating critical revenue that helps advance our mission, every sport, including football and basketball, relies on philanthropic support to provide a championship-caliber student-athlete experience. This uniquely interconnected model allows donors to support the programs and priorities they are most passionate about while creating opportunities across all 27 sports.

Thanks to your support, 2025 became the most successful fundraising year in the Virginia Athletics Foundation's 77-year history. More than 11,000 VAF members invested a record $120.4 million in the future of Virginia Athletics, surpassing our previous record of $87.3 million set in 2022. The VAF Annual Fund generated more than $17.7 million to support all 27 sport programs, while the Sabre Society grew to over 950 members and has generated more than $155.1 million in philanthropic impact since its launch in 2024.

The response to the new JPJ Seating Plan was inspiring. During calendar year 2025, supporters contributed $28.5 million, demonstrating an extraordinary level of commitment to Virginia Basketball. That momentum has continued into 2026 and reflects our shared belief that Virginia Basketball should remain among the nation's premier programs.

For 77 years, the Virginia Athletics Foundation has been built on that trust you place in Virginia Athletics. Our responsibility is to be stewards of your investment by communicating the priorities of Virginia Athletics, honoring donor intent, and connecting your passions with opportunities to make a lasting impact.

Virginia Athletics finished fifth nationally in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, marking our third top five finish in four years. We celebrated national championships in women's swimming and men's tennis, captured 11 NCAA individual titles and five ACC team championships, and witnessed football achieve a school-record 11 victories. Men's and women's basketball also returned to NCAA Tournament play.

Virginia matched its highest-ever NCAA Graduation Success Rate of 96 percent, while 548 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.00 or higher, including 47 who achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA. Notably, football recorded the highest fall GPA in program history during the same season it achieved the most wins in school history, while men's basketball and baseball also posted record-setting fall GPAs.
