The Pillars
The Virginia Athletics Foundation unites supporters to empower Virginia student-athletes to excel in sport, scholarship, and service, shaping champions of character and leaders for life. To elevate this mission, we need visionary supporters willing to invest in transformational outcomes that extend far beyond the playing field.
The Pillars unites three tracks of leadership support:
Annual Fund
Year-over-year annual fund support from VAF members, along with the endowment distribution, fund athletics scholarships. Scholarship endowment distributions alone do not meet the full cost of Virginia Athletics’ annual scholarships, making Annual Fund support vital to ensuring every scholarship is funded. Gifts of every size provide life-changing scholarship support for Virginia student-athletes by expanding access to a world-class UVA education.
Sabre Society
Sabre Society members make multi-year, leadership-level commitments of $25,000 or more, payable over up to five (5) years, that advance the strategic priorities of Virginia Athletics. In accordance with the 2025 Presidential Athletics Task Force, these investments support scholarships and key program enhancements while providing the stability needed to execute long-range initiatives identified by coaches, Athletics, and University, leadership.
Cavalier Legacy
Through estate provisions within one's will or trust, legacy supporters help secure the long-term strength of Virginia Athletics. These revocable commitments create permanent program support, preserve opportunities for future Cavaliers, and help protect our programs from future volatility, embedding each donor's legacy within Virginia's tradition of excellence.
