Our Mission:  The Virginia Athletics Foundation (VAF), through its fundraising efforts, strives to support a preeminent intercollegiate athletics program at the University of Virginia by providing student-athletes the opportunity to achieve academic and athletic excellence.

Another year is in the books, and we are so excited for all that 2022 brings! We had a remarkable year in 2021, with more than 9,600 donors generously giving a record-breaking $19.47 million to the Annual Fund and over $60 million in commitments to all areas of support (Virginia Athletics Master Plan, scholarship endowments, operations, planned gifts, etc.). Your support helped our student-athletes win two NCAA National Championships in women’s swimming & diving and men’s lacrosse, Virginia Baseball head back to Omaha for the College World Series, first-year women’s tennis student-athlete Emma Navarro win an individual National Championship, and numerous student-athletes earn All-American honors.

We are deeply grateful for the support of our loyal donors — we could not have celebrated such success in and out of competition without you. Your generosity made a direct impact on our student-athletes, and we ask for your renewed support this year to help us fund a scholarship expense that is projected to be $22 million.

Your Annual Fund commitment ensures our ability to fully fund all 316.6 scholarships allowed by the NCAA, as well as a portion of sport-specific operating costs and academic support for all student-athletes.We hope you will join us again in 2022 as we look forward to our programs continuing to thrive as our student-athletes compete at the highest level.

On behalf of our student-athletes and coaches, thank you for your support.

Go Hoos!

Beginning in 2021, the Coaches 10 fundraising efforts will be renamed to Sport Enhancement Funds to provide a more descriptive name for the use of the funds. An endowment gift is one of the most powerful gifts a donor can make to Virginia Athletics. Scholarship Endowments support the 316.6 athletic scholarships allowed by the NCAA and Operational Endowments serve as an ongoing source of financial support for a designated team. Learn More

The needs of individual sports are prioritized through coaches’ discussions with athletics administrators. Once an identified facility project has gone through the University’s approval process, the athletics department depends on the Virginia Athletics Foundation to raise the funds to finance the project and provide an endowment to support its operation and ongoing maintenance.
